A message from the Chief

People and relationships drive everything we do as a business. From the drivers out on the road serving the region through to our support functions back at our Netherhills HQ, it is testament to everyone at Cullimore’s that these relationships have existed for many years.

There are entire generations of families that have either worked at Cullimore’s when my father and grandfather were at the helm, or have relatives now at the business. That ethos is what makes Cullimore’s stand out from the crowd.

Cullimore’s itself is a company with a proud family history, stemming from our farming roots. My grandfather, Moreton C Cullimore, first established the company back in the 1920s, and when my dad, Roger, entered the business, he worked hard to keep farming part of our operations, even in the face of rising prices.

When I came on board as managing director, I was keen to return to and honour our heritage. In 2019, we became a Red Tractor assured producer of premium meats from our own farm near Stroud and Cullimore combine harvesters are back out in the fields again.

In May 2021, I became the national chair of the Road Haulage Association – the youngest in the its history. Covid-19, Brexit, and the ongoing climate emergency, have all had a significant toll on the haulage industry, but I, like my father and grandfather before me, believe that the support from such a prevalent association like the RHA is invaluable in weathering these storms and look ahead to a brighter future.

I believe that aggregate and mineral companies such as Cullimore’s are custodians of the land we work. We work tirelessly to restore our quarry sites as they near the end of their lifecycle, giving back what we cultivate and generating a healthy ecosystem in its place. Never has this been so important as it with the current strain on our environment and resources.

Plenty might have changed in recent years, not least with Covid-19 and further back, Brexit, but we still have the same core family values today as we did back then. We are continuing to develop our offering and capabilities still further. For example, our welding facility has undergone a huge transformation to increase capacity and our fleet of concrete mixer vehicles is continuing to grow.

There is every reason for optimism, and I am excited to share our developments with you. For now, enjoy our new website!
