Capels Mill Canal Restoration
Cullimore’s played a vital part in the restoration of the Capels Mill Restoration, which is part of a £2bn project to connect two of England’s greatest rivers; the Thames and the Severn for the first time in seventy years.
To clear the site in preparation to remodel the canal, we removed 7,000 tonnes of inert material and transported 5,000 tonnes of stone into the project to allow concrete to be poured.
Cullimore’s Mix poured 3,600 cubic meters of concrete into the structure to create the 325 meters of new canal. The narrowest point of the viaduct measures only 6 meters. The widest point reaches 26 meters to enable turning of passing boats.
Here you will see the canal in it’s finishing stages, opening day and finished canal.
